Ms. Burroughs is an active member in the following organizations: Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada, where she co-chairs the Medical Malpractice and Women in Law committees, California Academy of Attorneys for Healthcare Professionals, where she serves as a Board Member, the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys, and the Humboldt County Bar Association, where she serves as an Officer.

Practice Areas

Professional Liability Defense; Insurance Defense; Employment Law Defense and Counseling; Wealth Preservation. A large part of Ms. Burroughs’ practice is the defense of those with professional licenses, which includes representing physicians before the Medical Board of California and Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses before the Board of Registered Nursing.

Litigation and Trial Experience

Ms. Burroughs has tried medical malpractice, elder abuse, dangerous road conditions, breach of contract, and stock fraud cases to juries throughout Northern California. She has also tried cases in federal and state courts, completed administrative hearings in California’s Office of Administrative Hearings and Berman hearings before the California Labor Commissioner, and tried a class action case through jury trial and subsequent appeals.

Education

Ms. Burroughs completed her undergraduate degree at California State University, Sacramento. She attended University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California, where she earned her Juris Doctor (with Great Distinction), in 2002.

Personal/Life Interest

Ms. Burroughs enjoys sailing, chocolate, and telling horrible knock-knock jokes to her kids.
